FISHING IN THE SEA AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON

The arrival of spring coincides with the reappearance of sea bass near the coast. Exhausted by the spawning period, the sea bass approach the coast in search of food to replenish their energy reserves.

In this season, fishing with lures is a very effective technique for fishing on the shore. Use a flexible shad type lure like the Big Caperlan or an imitation needlefish like the Mogami Caperlan. From the month of May you can fish with lures from the beach with a casting jig type spoon. It is a very dense lure that can be cast at a great distance to probe a very large area.

To make the bass out of hiding, walk the lure near the rocks, oyster nurseries, marine structures (harbors, breakwaters, dams) and even the lagoons.

Surfcasting fishing is an effective technique at the beginning of the season. In this period of the year it is not uncommon to fish large specimens.

Generally, the reeds that are used in surfcasting have a length of between 4 m and 5 m to keep the fishing line tense above the waves. If you start in this mode, we recommend rods that do not exceed 4.5 m, because the longer rods require more technical handling.

In April, boat fishing is also excellent. With flexible lure? Or with jig? Fishing to hold with natural bait? The possibilities are multiple.

To identify areas with abundant fish, look for evidence of hunting activity. If you perceive a frenetic activity on the surface, diving birds or jumping fish, they are indications that the fish are hunting underwater. Approach immediately, stand at the distance of the shot and start fishing. It is not necessary to get too close to the hunt, you could scare the fish.

THE FISHING OF LA DORADA

The bream, together with the sea bass, is one of the most sought after fish. It is easily recognizable by its particular form. The most precious golden one is the real golden one. It is a fish of great power and enormous beauty for its blue-silver color, its elongated and massive body with a golden band between the eyes.

For a long time it was considered to be an essentially Mediterranean fish, although currently the golden ones are present in all the coasts. It is even found in abundance in some regions of the Atlantic coast and the English Channel. It is important to know that the queen of the spa rids also appreciates the little salt water, so it can be found in estuaries and coastal lagoons. Golden doves tend to concentrate near the coast while adult specimens prefer to swim offshore. However, it is perfectly possible to fish several kilos on the shore. 

To fish this distrustful and strong fish, you need a solid and discreet assembly. Use preferably fluorocarbon thread and sliding assemblies. To present the bait naturally, use long lines (1.5 m to 2 m). The golden bream is a distrustful fish that will flee before the minimum tension of the thread.

Fishing with long and thin line basses to have more chances of mincing. Open the brake and release the tension of the line a little so that the tip of the rod is slightly curved.The bream has a very powerful jaw. We recommend that you use "forged", more resistant hooks.

The regulatory mesh for real gilthead breams and chubs is 23 cm. Return them to the water with extreme care so that they recover after the hard fight.

THE FLAT FISHES

Spring is also a good time to fish flatfish such as rooster, sole or flounder.

These fish are usually found on sandy bottoms where they have food and hiding places. It is a simple and very accessible fishing, both from the shore and from a boat.

As for the material, you need a surfcasting set to catch flatfish. If you fish from a boat, the most indicated is a rod / reel set for holding fishing. A simple assembly on the bottom of line with a sliding mount primed with a sandpit will be effective for all flatfish.

  

If you add shiny pearls to the sliding mount, you will increase its power of attraction. To fish at night, the phosphorescent pearls are ideal.
