HOW DO TIDES WORK FOR FISHING?
On the oceanic coastline, fishermen's lives follow the rhythm of
the different phases of the tides.
Rising tide? Descending
tide? Is it a high tide and low tide? These are phenomena vaguely
known by beginner fishermen, focused on assimilating the basic techniques of
fishing. However, understanding the operation of the tides is much easier
than it seems. We give you all the keys to understand these natural
phenomena and choose the best time to fish.
FISHING
WITH INCREASING TIDE
The rising tide is an ideal time to fish for surfcasting. For some
fishermen, it is even one of the most favorable times to
fish on the shore. The current "bumps" against the shore,
removes the bottom and drags all the food it finds. The fish lurk at this
point to feed.
The fish also take advantage of the currents of the rising tide to
enter the lagoons to feed themselves. In these conditions, you can leave
the prepared cane with a resistant bait (like a jibionera) several hours
without the fisherman intervening.
But remember to go back your team regularly so you do not get caught by the tide.
FISHING WITH INCREASING TIDE
Who
says that fishing with a descending tide "is not
the best time for surfcasting" is based more on rumors than on scientific
data? It is true that during this phase, the water is removed and the fish
too, but it is an excellent time to advance
positions and probe deeper areas.
With a descending tide, the bottom of a lagoon
will no longer be productive, but good prey can be found in the mouth if there
is food. The fish "wait for the exit" that the current directly
drag the food.
Unlike in the rising tide, you will have to regularly advance the
equipment to follow the water level.
THE STYLE OF PLEAMAR:
The estoa is a brief interval of about 30 minutes between the
rising tide and the descending tide.
It is an excellent time to fish, because the fish are close to the
coast and can be fished at any point. However, you have to be quick,
because when the tide descends, the fish return to sea inside.
