TIPS AND TIPS FOR FISHING DORADOS

To describe its physiognomy, basically we can say that the Dorado has a robust body, modernly compressed on the flanks and oblong section, its head is large and conical, large mouth with a double row of separate conical teeth is a terrible swimmer. Speaking of shipping, although specimens of up to 30 kg have been given, they are no longer feasible considering some 21 to 24 kg as a record, in the distant times the average was 12 kg and now they are around 4 to 6 kg.

The color of the golden changes considerably according to the habitat in which it is found, this means that if it lives in clear waters, its colors are more intense and if we find it in turbid waters the colors tend to silver, the yellow predominates, pulling the orange, the loom takes a greenish color with pints, each scale on the back and flanks have a blackish brown spot. The fins are orange-yellow with Carmine on the margin; the caudal fin has a black macula that extends in the form of a strip to the end of the caudal rays of the medium.

The Dorado is a fish that makes extensive migrations throughout its life since it needs to travel long distances for reproduction and fulfill its biological cycle. It can be said that it is a born predator, from its first moments of life it begins to feed on unicellular algae, but already after 5 or 6 days, it begins to eat aquatic insects, then as it grows it starts to eat small fish until it becomes a true hunter. Its main diet is based on fish of all kinds and even non-aquatic living beings such as pigeons, frogs, rats, among others.

Another of the main character is that it is a fish that needs good oxygenation of the water, perhaps, for this reason, its predominant presence in the slides, where it also takes advantage of its physical strength to take advantage of its possible victims.

It is a formidable swimmer and knows how to take advantage of the water flow , it is also very clever to find the most favorable area to raise the fight many times looking for sticks, stones or camalotes to entangle the line and unhook, or after nailing it to come closer without no problem until the moment he sees the fisherman, when a sudden change of direction produces a run that can cut the line, or with strong butts unhook the hook, as you can see is a fish that always poses a challenge to the fisherman , we must be concentrated until the end and we cannot relax until we have it on top of the boat or already insured on the coast.

EQUIPMENT AND TIPS

With similar characteristics those wishing to fish them should consider these attributes and choose well the equipment with which they are going to fish as the fisherman can also afford to practice with this highly sportive species different modalities such as Fly cast, Spinning, Baitcasting, Trolling or with bait waiting, hit or panda and of course for each of these there are different equipment that fit every need.

For the Spinning or the Baitcasting, we must count the place that we are going to fish, with a rod of 8 to 17 lbs. or 12 to 25 lbs. preferably short to not more than 1.80 m with reels loaded with multifilament of between 0, 18 mm to 0.25 mm of good quality, this is very important as it will give us greater nailing power by not having stretches. Lately, it is being used to add a gazette of at least 1.5 meters of Flu carbon from 0.50 to 0.80, bone joins the multi Flu carbon and then the steel leader goes, this is because the multi is extremely good. Resistant to fishing is not for rubbing with stones, sticks and where Dorado fishing is carried out that tend to have both obstacles; this new device gives very good results.

And for what is the Trolling (for those who do not know, the modality is to make traction the lures with the boat in motion) using a bit more powerful rods of 15 to 30 lbs with rotary reel also loaded with multifilament but with great load capacity, since the pique is going to be between 60 and 80 m from where the fisherman is, not too thick to deepen better. This equipment also fits perfectly to fish with bait while waiting, the best line is very simple from the mother of the reel sliding lead, which will depend on the current but rarely exceeds 30 gr, steel leader between 20 and 40 lbs and a hook no. 7/0 or 9/0 of very good quality and good penetration (to recommend Owner type Cutting point) since the mouth of our friend is all bone and requires a good cane and hook to ensure a successful dunk.

As for artificial ones, you have to have a good assortment of colors and actions. In surface, half water and depth I leave in images the most yielding.
In baits I would first put the brunette, then the horn and the list can continue with eel, yellow catfish, molars, had the filet, palmetto, frog, etc.

There is a tendency on the part of the fishermen that if we want to fish for gold, everything must be big and heavy, so the only thing we can do is fishless or enjoy less, which is not a small thing, you have to bail equipment, I do not get tired of saying it, I prefer Any case lose a hypothetical and occasional Dorado of 20 kg but enjoy the many 4 to 8 kg that will surely nail (unless we go to the Lodge Zone)

THE FISHING

Before throwing the bait or lure into the water you have to have well regulated the Reel star, not too loose that produces a false nail and not too tight that causes a cut, and know perfectly without doubt where it fits and where the star in case of having to make adjustments in the middle of the fight with El Dorado, since he does not forgive an error.

The pique tends to be violent and until you do not feel the tension of the line you do not have to throw the cane, you have to feel that the cane is down and when we have it parallel to the water there start with the first cane that has to be firm and with strength without being abrupt   so then we can assure it with other more gentle caƱazos. Now it's time to concentrate and not to rush, to enjoy and work well, above all: calm and enjoy that for that moment is that we are there, not wanting to upload it as soon as possible that seems obvious but I see many fishermen and good fishermen.

To me, in particular, the modality that I like the most, and perhaps the least known, is the blow with both lures and bait, is the most demanding, dynamic and fun. The movement and attention required requiring the fisherman to be 100% concentrated.  IT IS THE CASTRO CARRIED TO THE LIMIT OF PERFECTION !!! since distance is the least and precision is everything. C onsite to make launches with the boat drifting controlled, between 10 to 25 m from the coast and make the sets towards the accidents of the coast where they usually stalk the Dorados, submerged stones, sunken trees, fallen branches, ledges of stones, ravines and other obstacles, and go bringing in a controlled way and re-launch, soon. ANDIt's very difficult, that's why I said that the shots are perfect because in a bad shot not only lose the possibility of pique but the area is wasted as the boat continues to advance.

The best way to throw is over the head, the trickery falls more natural and side throws tend to make the deception make a kind of duckling on the water and baffles the fish, it is also good when it drops leaving a few seconds and then start to collect as long as you can, that's why the maximum concentration ... do not forget that the boat is in motion and any friction with a branch or trunk is a hook that can rarely be dislodged. It should be noted that as soon as the trick falls into the water you have to lock the reel immediately because many times the spikes happen immediately and if you have it open you can imagine what will happen.

The concentration should never be lost because before a pique sometimes the fish will take refuge on the same obstacles that we are throwing and we have to fight them to make them change direction or sometimes they swim towards us causing us to lose the tension of the line and we have to pick up at full speed ... all this is added the short distance between the coast and the boat, is very much adrenaline this modality and not to mention the expertise of the guide to derive the boat in the right way, distance and speed!

READING THE WATER

while this is the task of the guides it is good to have some knowledge about it. We always hear the term of sliding, the slide is not more than an acceleration of the current by means of an obstacle, they can be submerged trunks, stacking of stones, collapses of ravines etc.

This generates several things: one and the main one is that the dams that pass by are out of control due to the increase of the current and when disoriented the Dorado takes advantage to hunt them, another is that water is oxygenated more and this is liked and another is that immediately behind this obstacle there is a deceleration of the water that allows the Dorado to remain there without spending too much energy in the swim. Where there are high ravines is synonymous with depth and we can see an acceleration of the water produced by landslides of these ravines, there usually there are great dorados.
The so-called backwaters are those formed after the obstacles and will stop the food dragged by the current, also lurking there. Banks of sand, these accumulations of sand are usually divided into two groups:
  • End banks of islands on the coast, there in the verily there are usually many Doraville’s hunting
  • Large central banks, in these lowlands it is beautiful to fish wading since it is a natural reserve of tarpons and small fish, the ideal thing is to throw on the verily of the banks mainly in the lengths that run perpendicularly the river.

Brazos Minor, although it is not the best place for the Dorados sometimes the wind on the main channel makes fishing difficult and we can take refuge in these places, there may be Doraville’s and palmettos that will make us pass the time until the conditions improve. There are also lagoons, space for the Terraria’s and Dorados that have been trapped in the downpipe, if the lagoon is large, it should be placed at the entrance or exit of the water.
Overflow, if the water is only up to the field the fishing will be null, but if the water runs strong it is likely that El Dorado is behind the forage species.

CUPOS Y VEDAS

BUENOS AIRES - Closed season: from October 1 of each year until January 15 of the following year. The closure of this species is TOTAL, not being allowed to be captured during this period. The minimum capture size is 60 cm (measured lengthwise from the front end of the body to the rear end of the caudal fin) and the maximum bone size of 80 cm if it exceeds this measure must also be returned, the amount is 2 pieces per fisherman and per day.

BETWEEN RIVERS:  The closure is from October 15 until January 15 of the following year. The minimum size is 65 cm and the maximum is 80 cm, the quota is only 1 per day per fisherman.

SANTA FESports fishing is allowed only with a full refund.

CURRENTS:   The extended period runs from November 3 to May 1 of the following year, commercial fishing is prohibited on  Saturdays and Sundays, its sports fishing prohibited on Tuesday and Wednesday. The minimum size is 65 cm and the maximum is 80 cm, the quota is only 1 per day per fisherman.

IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO CLARIFY THAT THE SITUATION OF EL DORADO LIKE SURUBI AND ALL THE IMPORTANT SPECIES OF OUR PARANA, LIKE THE PACU AND THE MANGURUYU, IS VERY ALARMING!!

For example in the last festival of integration of the Shrub fishing in Goya of 267 boats only 10 pieces were captured, if 10 fish from 267 boats that had 3 or 4 fishermen each, and the largest shrub was 90 cm followed for one of 80 and the rest a shame! Lack of controls in all areas and commitment of the authorities to prohibit the export of river species, as the only country that allows it, a shame. At this rate, biologists say that in 10 years, the damage we are causing will be irreversible.

ALL THIS I COMMENT FOR THAT WE ADD TO THE FISHING WITH TOTAL RETURN, FOR US, BY OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN ... AND WE DO NOT PUT THE EXCUSE OF THE TRAMAYOS, SPINELESS AND DEMAS. IT IS EVIL WHAT THEY DO AND IT IS IN THE LAW TO CORRECT IT, BUT WHAT WE WILL RETURN IF THEY ARE GOING TO LIVE AND DESERT. AS I ALWAYS SAY: FISHING IS A GAME THAT IF EVERY TIME WE PLAY WE KILL OUR RIVAL, SOON WE WILL NOT HAVE ANY GAME!
